hotpoint aquarius 1200 wm64 really noisy when spinning?

hi, can anyone help please, I have a hotpoint aquarius 1200 wm64 washing machine that has started to be really noisy (banging noise) when spinning, how do I fix it?

could aslo be the suspension arm supports that act as shock absorbers for the drum itself. is it rocking violently? this can be caused by overloading of the machine (duvets etc) and as mentioned, can also damage the bearings. the drum will knock and grind when shaken-span by hand from the inside if it is the bearings, and its not uncommon to find geases on washed items from the fractured bearing. i dont believe the suspension arm is very exspensive (dont qoute me on that!) but it is an absolute pig to replace, with lots of sore knuckles and cursing. hope this helps. good luck

Thanks - We're nearly ready to move in to our new house so was hoping it would last the next 6 weeks but might be out of luck. Will try the bearings!

Anon is partly right. It could be bearings or it could be something caught between the inner and outer drums.
If the drum makes a noise when you turn it by hand, or it moves up and down on it's shaft then it will be the bearings.
Now, if the machine has been making a noise for some time and the movement is excessive, then it's time for a new machine . This is because the plastic outer drum housing will not hold a new bearing race securely, and the price of a new housing with labour is almost the price of a new machine. Only when it's dismantled will you see the full damage.
