CAN a new DVD Burner with SATA sockets be fitted to a 5 year-old PC?

Can a brand-new 'Lite-On' DVD Burner, with 'SATA' power and data sockets on it, be fitted to a 5 year-old 'Time' Desktop PC, which does not have 'Sata' leads or plugs fitted to it? I believe my 'Time' PC has IDE sockets on it, but I am not certain of this?
If adaptor leads are available can anyone tell me how much they will cost and who supplies them?
Many thanks in advance for all of your time and help.

Yes, but you will need a sata/ide convertor dongle, on my ebay at

If SATA is your only choice you want a SATA PCI card, you would also need a a MOLEX to SATA power adapter

SATA Card is about £11
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/48670

Molex Adapter is about £2
http://www.watt-power.co.uk/catalogue/molex-sata-adaptor-p-929.html

These are what is required, shop around to find a store that does both to save on postage.
