my microwave just stopped ?

We had a surge that blew two Fuses in the meter cupboard
when I switched them back on the Microwave would not start
It was as if there is a switch inside that tripped.

Immediately before the surge we were cooking and no problem

Microwaves are emitted by the magnetron tube and kept inside the microwave by the casing/door.
If you open up your microwave be sure to earth the large capacitor by shorting across the 2 or 3 terminals to each other - use a well insulated screwdriver as it may spark & pop as it will be at 5000v. Also short the terminals to the case to dissipate to earth. Alternatively leave the microwave unplugged for a week or so and it will dissipate the charge. Nevertheless dont touch the capacitor or the terminals, or the wire leading to the capacitor if you can help it. There is usually an internal fuse on on the board where the power lead enters the case. You should be able to get a replacement from Maplin. Be careful to put the case back on exactly as it came off.

The Microwave is only just outside its warranty, it was off at the time of the surge, not ony the Microwave stopped other equipment stopped at the same time. I have not to slightest intention of trying to repair it myself, what I am after is a professional man who is fully aware of how to repair them. I am fully aware how dangerous it is to try as a D.I.Y person try and I WILL NEVER try to do that. I live in Potters Bar ad I am after soemone who can repair it, from my thougt it is trip that has gine but as I say I am no expert.

are you sure that it wasn`t the microwave that caused the fuses to blow in the meter cupboard?
microwaves are not really meant to be taken to pieces by d-i-y repairers as it can be very dangerous (leakage of microwave radiation) if not repaired properly. all you can really do is to check that the power is reaching the end of the microwave cable.if it is, then either take it in for repair or buy a new one.i`d buy a new one in such circumstances
