My spin cycle is not working and the water sits and does not empty out. What may be the problem?

Mine was the lid sensor too. The plastic cracked where both screws hold it in place. Should be an easy fix.

why wont my indeset washing machine will wash but wont spin .then if you put a couple of clothes in it ,then it will could you please try and give me some advice thank you

Mine just started doing the same. I found out it's the lid sensor that got detached, the plastic mounts broke off and the sensor is dangling. In a pinch, good old duct tape holding the switch in the closed position helped me finish the wash cycles. I am now in the process of finding a repair manual and the replacement part.

if its turning during the washing cycle you can rule out the belt, and possibly the motor. check its emptying ok, if its not emptying it wont spin. if it turns during the wash cycle and empties fully but still wont spin it could be either the motor ( some have seperate windings for wash and spin but not many ) or more likely the sensor thinking water is still in the machine.
