My Panasonic DMR-E50 keeps displaying Chk Remote, no remote works, tried the original one that came with it, tried capable one and universal control nothing seems to work. Also, tried resetting the main unit back to factory settings by pressing and holding channels up and down which did reset and now my unit is asking me to select lanugage and clock is flashing and can't change any settings due to remote control not working.

Press and hold down the enter button and then press teh number that is show on your DVD recorder that will change the remote channel of the remote to the channel of the main unit. So for example if it is saying " 1 chk remote" --> press and hold enter, while holding enter press 1. That will set the remote channel back to 1
