Ford Transit Cassette Player/Radio?

Hi, Just bought a 1997 converted transit (now horsebox) and I don't know the code to the radio so I can sing along to drown out the loud engine!
How do I get to the serial number safely without damage? Please expain in v basic terminology.

The SERIAL NUMBER beginning with M ****** will be required. Either found in the van`s paperwork (in the Audio Guide) or on the radio casing
