Try searching for CL6P0120 which is a Potterton thermostat, several sites list it as suitable for Thorn M boilers. It also seems to go by the number "231844".

We just moved into a new house and have the same problem with the boiler thermostat - did you ever find one?? If so, was it easy to fix?
