just installed this player into car, but will not allow me to put in code, as it just says safe panel. any ideas how to put code in

Hold the AS button whilst switching the cd player on. It will flash CODE on the screen, you'll need to input the correct code to unlock the front panel so the radio works again. First digit is controlled by the No1 button, press it the correct number of times, No2 does second digit and so on. Once the correct code is displayed on the MFD screen press the AS button again and it's done.

it is in a partially locked condition due to too many incorrect codes entered.
Try leaving it switched ON UNDISTURBED for a couple of hours and that should reset it.
