potterton combi 80?

my combi 80 has stopped heating my hot water , but theres no power lights working on it , i checked under the cover and saw that behind the timer dial on the circuit board there was black soot marks and a burnt smell. i think that this is the problem but how much could this cost to repair?

Same thing happened to mine... from reading about on the internet, I heard it was a common problem with these boards for the 2 solder joints in the top left to fail which is where mine was all black. To save myself a bit of cash with a new board, I took a soldering iron to it - just resoldering the two joints again and it did the trick and board works fine now. That was about 3 months ago and still going strong.

also never tell an enginerrer that you have had a look inside because most of them wont go anywere near it and u will have to pay top money for the ones that do
hope it helps

if they is a scurch mark on your PCB they are about £200+ to replace the board that is not including laboure you are looking at about £350 for it to be changed and tested
