I just endured the same problem. I unplugged the recorder at the plug, took the bateries out of the remote and waited 15 minutes. Plugged back in, inserted batteries into remote switched on, pointed remote to machine and held enter button and 1 for about 10 seconds and hey presto it worked. You can then go back into functions operate as manual.
