I have to ask because of the previous comment our dyson was out of warrantey about three years ago since then my husband managed to patch a huge problem we had where the front weight came off whilst the machine was on a spin cycle and cracked the outer drum casing on the front it litteraly feel apart must of been a weak spot in the plastic anyway now i keep getting problems with coin trap all the time when there appears to be nothing wrong with it no blockages etc anyway now the lcd is gone for the second time and i can not read what error code it has this time so my question to the DYSON engineer is if i was to pay the 85 pounds would you replace the drum casing?as well as fix whatever else is wrong?although the drum casing is not a problem and is holding up really well as i assume this would mean taking the whole drum out and basically replacing it with a new one.?

take off the small motor with the worm gear on . remove the gear and then apply some epoxy resin to the motor shaft replace the gear and allow to dry overnight .. reasemble and everything should be ok. it seems that the metal shaft on the motor rounds off the worm gear inside . i fixed mine over a year ago and it still works ......

One also had the F15 fault on our Dyson CR02 flow check . A quick call to their office 0870 600 2701 and the engineer was at the door of our home the next day. You will never buy another machine, Dyson second to none, Dyson there is no other for after service. Worth every penny of purchase. I'll leave it at that. Yeovil, Somerset.

Yes, I would also agree that it's well worth getting Dyson out to fix it. They will upgrade many parts and electrical safety test it and give you a two year guarantee; the firmware upgrade will also improve wash times. The F15 error is caused by the old style actuator rings which get stuck together after a few years. They need swapping out for the new type which have an expansion joint.

I have had this problem FOUR times now! Previously my Dyson was under warranty but now it is out of warranty and I will need to pay. I have actually had a new washing machine, new drum in the new washing machine, new soap drawer in the new washing machine and a programme upgrade!

Kathy, November 2006
I had the same problem and Dyson came out. It appears that the older CRo1 memory machines have many bugs that Dyson will upgrade for you free. These being the gear cog that is sticking causing the F15 fault, a new door a new detergent drawer and a new computer. Dyson did all this at no charge as mine was one of the first CR01 ( bought in 2002).

Alas the fault came back after a year, but as they had replaced said gear cog I am back under warranty.

Ring them, engineer will come out after 14 days, I would be surprised if they charge. If they do charge £85, trust me it would be worth every penny to get that lot replaced.

Cheers

actuator ramps at rear are seized. Dyson will charge zero up to £85 for repair.
