I removed the fuel pump from my Massey Harris tractor to repair a small frost crack, I was carefull not to rotate the pump or the gearing -- my father of 80 years lifted the pump and rotated it several times knocking it out of timing.

-- can you advise the simplest method of setting the timming of the pump without me having to strip out the engine/remove the timing cover. --

If you can get a copy of September 2008 "Tractor and Machinery" mag. there is an article on rebuilding an MF35 engine and timing up the pump!
Can't copy it out, copyright, anyway its easier if you read and look at the pictures yourself.
