Fuse blown in Delonghi DMX65 Microwave Oven?

Hi

I found that my microwave oven stopped working recently, having just moved house. The convection oven and grill still work perfectly however the microwave oven has stopped working. On investigation I found that the 5KV 0.75A Fuse has blown. What would cause this fuse to blow in the first instance and where can I find a suitable replacement. I hunted the local electrical outlets, to little avail.

hi! when i used to repair these microwaves the big fuse in plastic cover used to blow from an arcing to the case lid some parts are very close to lid, try tucking the wires away or insulating with piece of wave guide cover, even better just remove the fuse completely!

Hi there,
Got exactly the same problem! I am assuming i can find a fuse from somewhere but i'm wondering if there is a bigger problem causeing the fuse to blow - that said, since you moved yours and i probably moved mine it could just be a physical shock that caused the fuse to blow.....

I have a DeLonghi DMX10 microwave which blew the same fuse. The fuse itself is inside an insulating plastic tube, but the whole assembly has to be replaced -- you can't get just the little glass fuse, unfortunately. A new one will cost about a tenner from anywhere that repairs microwaves, but make sure it has the correct crimp terminals: should be 6.3mm. for the txr. and 4.8 for the cap. I took the old fuse assembly in with me and got the sales assistant to fit me the right terminal.

I was a bit worried in case the magnetron was faulty and that was what had killed the old fuse; but the new fuse hasn't blown yet so it was probably just fuse fatigue. When you use your microwave on anything less then full power, the magnetron is being repeatedly switched on and off; and this probably isn't doing the fuse much good.

Fuses tend to just blow occasionally but alot of the time it could be the transformer or capacitor has gone these are extremly dangerous.

You can buy a fuse for about £3 from any spare parts company or even an engineering firm.
