no sound on projector?

i have just bought a optama 727 projector and i cant get any sound or volume.
I can get it through my computers speakers.
Does the projector need out going speakers for sound to work?
Does it need to be set up before sound will work?

Its Optoma. You need to have an audio cable from the laptop or PC to the audio input on the projector, as well as the VGA cable for the picture. The volume control is in the menu, which you can get to from the buttons on top, or the remote.
