Is there a filter on this machine??

Is there a filter on this machine?? As I took out what looks like the filter at the bottom and it was clean but the machine has started to smell a bit damp so when I do a wash my clothes smell of it, so I am wondering what it could be?

has anyone got an instruction manual?
