I have an old Insignia, which is the best buy brand for LG, and I have the same problem whenever I use Maxell or Memorex brand dvds. I found that using sony brand dvds produced a lot less bad disks. Also, if you do a lot of editing that usually screws up a disk. So do hot days as most dvd recorders are poorly ventilated. And make sure to finalize as soon as possible otherwise the next time you turn your machine back on, it might not recognize the disk.
