My freelander undercarriage makes a terrible noise when driving?

I'm interested in buying Freelander 2000 from a friend, test drove it and it was making an awful noise when driving, could it be exhaust bracket or would the exhaust be loose, when looking underneath I can't see a prob with either.

Wondering could it have been incorrectly fitted and never rectified, the buyer said he took it to many a garage and they can't find out whats wrong with it. i'm baffled.....

DO NOT BUY IT! It could be the IRD or the viscous coupling on the way out. In other words EXPENSIVE.

Any unexplained noise under a vehicle is suspicious. especial when coming from a car that has recently been in for repair returned with: No Fault Found.

BTW if it is a 1.8 petrol that DO NOT NOT BUY! goes double.
