I have standby power, but when I push the power button the green light comes on for about a second, then everything shuts off

There are two possibilities:
1. Your power supply is toasted.
2. Your PS3 has overheated and possibly nuked some internals.
Get ready to disassemble that PS3 or call Sony's sh*tty customer service and pay $150 to get it fixed!
