How can I realign my Levolor vertical blinds?

A few slats in two different sets of Levolor vertical blinds have become twisted, out of alignment with all the rest. They rotate on their attachment pieces, but at an angle with the adjacent slats. There does not appear to be any obvious way to release the attachment piece from the string that connects the pieces and rotates them. If I try to force the slat back into alignment, it seems very likely to snap the attachment piece. What to do? (I had the same problem fixed a few years ago by a professional, but I did not watch him closely enough, and now other slats have become twisted . . .I know there is a trick to getting the slats back into alignment -- can you help?)

Roland’s suggestion below worked on my old LouvreDrape vertical blinds (now owned by Levalor). “I pushed up and turned the vane clip with a pair of pliars and at the same time pulled on the cord that rotated the vanes. Volia, the clip turned so it is in the same orentation as the rest of the clips.”

The key part was pulling the cord at the same time. the vane clip was being turned. Definitely a two man job!

Thank you so much. This saved me hundreds of dollars!

Thank you! I finally was able to align my blinds :-)

remove slat using credit card (so you don't break slat) slide credit card on back side of slat up to hook to release slat.
use plyers to grab hook push up and twist back into alignment.
reattach slat.
It took me about 2 minutes to fix mine.

I too had a vane out of sync with the rest.
I looked for an answer and found this on the internet.
I could not get the vane clip to push up
I pushed up and turned the vane clip with a pair of pliars and at the same time pulled on the cord that rotated the vanes. Volia, the clip turned so it is in the same orentation as the rest of the clips.

Does anyone know why or how these clips get out of orentation?

I did exactly as instructed. Pushed the holder of the vane up after removing the vane and then turned it to the right configuration and then grabbed the end with a pair of pliers and pulled it back down....re-connected the vane and all is good. Just nothing in the materials that comes with the blinds telling you how to do this...something they need to include since it is not hard to fix. What I would like to know is how three of mine got out of alignment with the rest of the vanes.

1. Close blinds completely, pull on chain. If it aligns, ok. If not, close them the other way, pull again. If no success, go to 2
2. Remove slat, push up on plastic holder with pliers, etc. If it lifts, try to twist-CAREFULLY- to align.
3. If that does not work, inspect where plastic holder enters top. It there is a rectangular slot just big enough for the holder, you have to push the holder up about 3/8 inches. Then, pull chain to align all the veins with the rectangle on the one you are fixing. Then, pull down on the holder. It now aligns with all the others. Attach your vane, and recheck alignment.

I have 3 Day Blinds. I have repaired the alignment by:

1. Remove the vane.

2. Use a soft mallet hammer to tap upwards on the vertical carrier.

3. Re-align the carrier and pull down gently (with covered pliers) until snaps back into position.

4. Re-hang vane

a little more Googling will do -- no video camera required:

Don't have an answer but if it comes to calling the 'Pro' back out - make a short video with digital camera of the trick part and share it with the rest of us. Good luck. - mrteem p.s. ask this guy if he knows how to replace a take up string on a hunter-douglas accordion blind. I've been waiting for some kind of answer from someone on that since March. Again -Good Luck.
