How do you stop a Siamp opitma 49 from over filling?

Having just purchased a new toilet fitted with a Compact 99B cistern and a sifam optima 49 mechanism.
Despite following the instructions several times I cannot stop the cistern from overfilling, the only way to stop the water is to turn the adjustment screw until the water stops. What am I doing wrong or not doing?

I've also got a Compact 99B that won't stop filling. I've made sure that the float doesn't foul on the side but its still not stopping the flow. I've tried adjusting the screw on the floatin case the float wasn't being pushed high enough but this doesn't solve it. Even when I manually pull the float up as high as the mechanism will go it still doesn't shut off the water - has any body got any ideas as to how to solve this please?

You have to make sure that the water supply tube (the one with the adjustment screw) is positioned at an angle into the corner of the cistern, with the adjustment screw facing towards the front of the cistern, exactly as shown in the assembly instruction leaflet. otherwise the float tray fouls the side of the cistern and wont allow it to float free and turn off the water. I only discovered this from bitter experience.
