panasonic SA HT67 shows F61 can you Help me?

My panasonic SA HT67 briefly shows F61 when I turn it on, then powers off. I took the case off and checked the fan. It works when directly hooked up to 12v battery but I have never heard it run. I can hear the switch by the power suppy click on and then off again when I push the power button. After sitting for a long period (over night unplugged) it will work properly for a short time. What is going on?
