I just bought a used Sony CFD-100 CD radio cassette recorder. It plays a tape for a few seconds then stops. When I take the tape out part of it is wrapped around
the right post inside the deck. It does this on deck A and deck B. Would cleaning the heads fix this, or is it something else?

take doors off both casettes or at least lower them right down and clean with alcohol the black rollers (on both sides if it autoreverse) will need to use a cotton bud or something similar, but clean all the way round until no residue left on cotton bud. may solve the problem, if not cogs are probably knackered inside.
