I found the same experience with Creative, I was 6 months outside my Warranty and got no assistnace from Creatives Support teams, other then telling me to try the Recovery Tool from the www.creative.com site. The technical staff had quite clearly not read my feedback e-mail as I had stated in it I'd already used the Recovery Tool.
When I offered to pay for a repair, I got informed that this wasn't possible as I was outside my Warranty, I don't think the simple concept that I wanted to get the player working again even if it cost me money was getting through.
Finally they offered me a discount link to buy a new Creative product, I followed the link and found the discount to be a pathetic 10% off the RRP, which on checking www.amazon.co.uk I found the prices to be less than this 'great' offer I was being given as a 'valued customer'.
Needless to say I'll never buy any Creative product again after this experience.
