riello rdb burner (pump problems)?

Hi There i've got a fustrating problem with my reillo pump, the burner is rellio rbd with red cover on front ,
since it's done 3 pumps in , in 6months i need to find where the problem lyes and ive done everything to make sure fuel is getting to pump freely , cleaned the fliter at the tank , checked fuel line for cinks checked for air locks even had a service etc ..
once i get it going , with a new pump it runs fine for about a month then starts getting a bit noisey after a few weeks the pump will cease then i need a new one at 55 quid , ive only just had a service and was wondering if the nozzle was worn could this cause the pump to over work to a pace where it cant handle anymore , or do i need to get pressure checked after fitting the pump or would the burner be running the pump to quick .
Has anyone had the same problem as me and I would be gratefull if anyone could advise me about it

Thankyou - Dave ...

If u take the cover off the oil pump ( 4 Allen key nut's) and its full of rust after it stops working you have water/sludge in your oil tank , its a common problem here in northern Ireland, usually a result of the lid being blown off the tank or not getting enough of an oil fill to stop condensation inside your oil tank, if the pump has water damage the suppliers won't take it back or exchange it

the drive wheel and pin wear badiy its been a problem with these pumps for years the new green ones give problems the metal in these pumps is to soft always make sure oil is clean and no water in the oil theres a 12 month warrenty on them so if it packs up take it back to supplier

Stick a little 2 stroke oil in with the kerosene, I used about half a bottle to approx 500 litres problem solved. Does not smell so long as you do not use too much and no smoke or other side effects so far either.

hi,
i have had the very same problem and was wondering where i get this GREEN riello pump

dave, January 2011
the problem is with the pump dave. i have changed hundreds of these recently, and its down to the new sulphor free oil being supplied. the riello pumps cannot handle the lack of lubrication in this oil, and burn out , sometimes in seconds. you need to contact suppliers and get a new 'green' riello rdb pump. best of luck !

you need to test the pump with both a vacuum and pressure gage also you failed to mention if you checked the strainer in the pump itself
