how to mend tv aerial cable?

i.ve cut through the tv aerial cable in my living room, is there a way to mend it. please help! no freeview without it

why do you need to do both? would have thought male to female would be enough. extra connections will just hurt the signal

A male and female f connector are also ideal and just screw onto cable with a little copper exposed and then screw together.

Hi Sue,
To do the job properly, you will need 2 male UHF plugs and one double female connector.
Essentially you are putting a male plug on each of the two cut ends and joining them by plugging them into the double female.
For an example of the male connection, take the UHF aerial out of the back of the tv and carefully unscrew the knurled ring. It is essential, for good reception, that the outer 'screen' cable does not touch the inner single core cable.

As a very temporary measure,switch the TV off and cut back each broken end. expose one inch of the outer cable and only half an inch of the inner.
Now twist join the two inners and cover the exposed copper with a few turns of insulation tape.
Now twist the two outers into a single strand and twist them together and insulate again.
Your tv will now work properly when you switch on
