How do I mend a crack in an old lead water pipe?

Hi - our mains water comes into the house through a lead pipe that is behind our kitchen cabinets. It has a hairline fracture in it and is slowly leaking water. Can you please tell me the best way to repair it? Thanks

isolate the water and cut out the cracked pipe and install copper.put a lead-lock on either side and put the copper between and tighten.they are similar to compression joints .your local plumbers merchants will stock them and this is a perm fix

Use milliputty www.milliput.co.uk. Check out the website it even tells you how to do it. I used it on a split lead pipe in a 100 year old house. Worked fine.
