BUSH DVD RECORDER- NOT RESPONDING TO REMOTE CONTROL? HELP?

My stupid DVD recorder has stopped responding to my remote control and would reallly want some help on how to restore because there is no other way to operate the player otherwise unless you just want to watch or play dvds, i cant change the channel to record the correct things.

i also know the batterys work because when i press buttons on the remote it is trying to get a response from my Tv and the remote light on the TV shows it is flickering from the switches but the remote has no effect on the DVD recorder or TV
