How can I fix my OKO-LAVAMAT 74620 door lock problem?

The washing machine completes a cycle and empties fully but the green 'door' light does not come on and the door does not unlock so it can't be opened normally (the emergency unlock has to be used). What is the most likely cause of this problem?

it could just be that the door interlock is faulty within it's self but like anything the fault could be elsewhere.
