my LDV convoy 400 blows hot air out the de-mist vents?

....irrelevant of the heater setting.
the temp gauge remains at 0 - 1/3rd - i reckon the thermostat is broke, and is not kicking in the secondary cooling system. some bloke told me if i remove the thermostat altogether the engine will ALWAYS use the secondary cooling system (radiator, fan etc) - is this the case? and where the hell IS the thermostat in my van anyway?!?! cheers

thermostat vital for correct running conditions, esp if any kind of ecu injection control system fitted.removing stat will make engine ALLWAYS run cold(no demisters in winter)just because gague is reading btm1/3 dosent mean its faulty.Correct function should be from cold read cold.5mins or a couple of miles read hot untill stat opens and gague drops untill fully warm when reads 3/4 or 80 dgr or so.follow the top rad hose to engine and remove there.stat is usually visible down stub pipe at that point.
