Handbrake Light?

Hi. I have an escort 55 van R reg. When i'm driving the handbrake light flickers sometimes. Is this telling me there is a problem? Recently i had rain water getting inside the van behind the dashboard etc. I'm thinking that i may have water in the electrics. Would this be a possible cause? Look forward to your reply. Regards Neil.

may be low on brake fluid [could use same warning light!]

the handbrake has a sensor on it to let you know if its on or not .....might try looking there first but if you`ve had water in dash it might be shorted ...
