Hi Denise, you do not tell us what make or model it is but most machines E1 means that the anti flood system has tripped.There is possibly water in the base where the motor is that needs to be drained, the outlet may be blocked, has the plumber connected the drain pipe under the sink and not cut the end off the spigot or the machine may be damaged and leaking water underneath.Check the first two and if neither, as it is new, I would call the engineers.
