The screen on my camera is cracked internally after a drop on the floor, can it be replaced with another new screen from another same camera by anyone?
Yes it is quite easy to install.... just a bit tricky with the ribbon cables but with patience easily do-able. Don't be intimidated by the job. Just open the back by undoing the small screws around the frame then slowly lever out the back ( which holds the LCD) you will see 2 ribbon cables before pulling make sure you lift up the small clamps ( a lever calm which holds the ribbon in the connector)... then slowly wiggle out the ribbons.. The you have the back cover with the LCD in your hands!.

How do you actually fit the screen- is it an easy task?

I have the same problem and found somewhere that sells the screens at reasonable cost on e-bay.

I've ordered one but can anyone give me instructions on how to fit it?

Hi Ian,
As far as I'm aware, the screen on TZ5 can only be replaced with the screen from another TZ5. The screens from TZ1/TZ3/TZ7 will not fit (different spec/different connectors).
I recommend getting another faulty TZ5 (e.g. with lens/ motherboard fault) from ebay and using it as a donor. Works out cheaper than ordering a new replacement screen :)
Good luck!

I too would like to know the answer to this one. I have one with exactly the same problem and it's only 3 months old. The only difference is that its never been dropped and I don't know how it happened.

If it's from the same model, then there should'nt be any problem at all.
