I tried to play a store bought DVD on my Panasonic DVD recorder. The display shows self check and read and continues showing these in a loop. The open/close button will not open the door so the DVD cannot be retrieved. Anyone got an answer?

This is a really common problem ,but it can be solved with a few components and a soldiering iron. There's a guy on ebay who says he can do it for £30 (although you need to get the box to him). I'm going to do this as my 'self check' loops are driving me insane! I'll let you know how I get on.
