Panasonic T.V goes black can I fix myself?

Hi, I've looked through other posts regarding this same problem.

T.V starts off with picture and sound okay and then say half an hour into watching the picture disappears and goes black on screen.

Other posts suggest that it might need re soldering, is this something that the average Joe could do or would I need to take it to a repairer?

Thanks for any advice!

Only if it's when using external equipment such as decoders, dvd, video recorders. When you could check for loose connecting cables.

Otherwise, you'd need an engineer.
Common causes for black raster with sound, faulty video processor (IC is usually marked VDP#####) in Panasonics, or faulty frame output IC. can cause screen blanking to activate. Then you'd need an engineer.
