How do i fix Hotpoint WMA30 - Belt Snapped?

The drum does not spin, which i think is a contributory factor to the belt snapping. Trying to diagnose the fault, i haven't found any blockages or clothes caught up (doesn't mean there aren't any though). Initially i thought the belt was the problem and tried to replace it but this can only be done if i can rotate the pulley! Can anyone help or at least give me a pointer to what i need to do? I'm a novice with Washing Machines, but have the competency to have a go myself. Many thanks

Turns out the bearings had sheared - a common problem in Hotpoint Machines apparently. Anyway Drum replaced under 5 Year parts Guarantee. Thanks to all those who replied ;-) For those who have met a similar fate, rather than hang on for a reply, i hope this will be useful.
