I assume that your DC07 sounds normal when the handle is in the upright position. My guess is that the brush roller is broken, or very full of hair and carpet string. If this is the case, it will not be able to turn very easily. You can check this by trying to turn it by hand. If it turns, your problem is most likely the clutch. The clutch is what allows one to turn on and off the brush roller on a Dyson. There are companies that sell DIY kits to be able to fix this yourself. (hint hint) Without the proper tools it is virtually impossible. If your brush roller doesn't turn, try using a pair of scissors to clean it. DO NOT remove the brush roller though. Without the proper tools, it is very difficult to get the brush roller back into position. If your brush roller is clean but will not turn by hand, you might want to look into replacing it.
