I ironed on my wood table on a sheet and it pulled off the stain, how do I ?

I was ironing on my wood table on top of a sheet and the steam pulled off the stain. I have round circles on the table where the stain has been removed. How do I fix it?

You have choices.

Leave it as it is...or

Attempt to stain/varnish to match original - quite (very) difficult and you'll need to work out what the original might be.

Scrape off all of the finish and re-dress the surface.

What is the finish? Is it a "posh" table or just a regular kitchen knock-about?

Oiled wood looks very nice on an everyday table. Matt varnish looks better than gloss as it's less reflective and minor damage is less obvious.

Invest in an ironing board as a preventive measure
