First of all, you should solder the terminals onto the rocker switch, otherwise the vibration from the motor will keep making them come loose. Then If you've used wire nuts, try to tuck them out of the way of the two halves of the handle. I know there is not much space. One side of the "c clip" that you are describing fits into a small hole and the rest of it should follow the same curve as the handle. Put the top half of the handle on and gently squeeze the two sides together. If there are any gaps, open it up and try to figure out what is getting in the way. When you've got the two halves of the handle together tightly, then put the screws back into place and tighten. If the rocker switch is sticking up a little, just push it back into position until it clicks. Voila!
