Problem with worcester 28i junior?

Ive changed the gas valve and the pcb on our worcester 28i junior but still no joy. The fan is running, pump fine and it is sparking(3 times) then goes into lockout as if no gas is being allowed through the gas valve?????

Boiler runs for about 2 hrs then keeps shutting down. We do not lose water pressure, once this happens we reset and it fires up again. Many thx.

Bunslinger I know its 4 years since your post but I wish to express my thanks to you in getting my boiler up and running after 2 days without heat or hot water.
Called a so called engineer out and he diagnosed it as the gas valve which he got the next day and started fitting it around 5.30pm, after phoning 2 friends he finally worked out how to remove the old one and put new in and hey presto same problem! he replaced another part and still nothing, by this time it was 8 pm and he wanted to leave it till the following day, After being without the boiler for 2 days I told him I needed it working so kids could shower etc then I came across this post and talked him through it, as above the switch was caked in gunk which after cleaning went back in and guess what? boiler fired up straight away!
Guess he learned something that day!
Oh and he still charged me for the gas valve which was probably fine and took the old one with him, I just wanted him gone so didn't really protest too much but he definitely wont be doing any future repairs or servicing for me.
Thanks again Bunslinger.

boiler is working but pressure went up over three bar and was coming out of blow off had pressure vessel changed less then six months ago.when hot water is on hot water gets really hot and burner ligth is flashing on and off and it sounds like its still trying to light but its on full flame

low pressure is indicated on dial and the red warning lamp is flashing indicating a lockout on the boiler. If a small amount of water is allowed into the boiler via the fill loop valve the pressure rises and the boiler fires up and runs ok.
When the boiler goes off as a result of the time program setting, the pressure drops which means the boiler fails to fire up when the program starts again.

You my sir are an absolute 100 carrot diamond!!!

Just got home from the office, wifes says no hot water, i'm an engineer and always fiddling so i thought i would take the front cover off.

Noticed the igniter was clicking 3 times then stopping and showing fault with flashing warning light.

I little more probing, looks like no gas is getting through, thinking this is gonna be pricey.

I was just about to give up when I found this post above, and hey presto isolated the pressure switch and it worked, so I thought ok i'll take it off.

Turned all the isolators down emptied the boiler of water and pressure, took off the low pressure valve, and guess what, it was cacked up solid with hard water gunk.

I chipped away at it very carefully with a dart, until it was all loose. I then filled it up with water, turned over and tapped it to get out gunk inside. repeated several times.

I popped the little sucker back on and fantastic all working.

You and you alone saved me a good 400 quid, so for that you get my blessing, if I could prove who you where I would send you a crate of beer, but then every tom dick and harry will say they posted it now won't they.

anyhow you know who you are so good work, guess i must pass on a good deed now then.............

Got a problem with an 28i worcester boiler, seem to have a leek
I've opened it up, found where the leek coming from, seems to be on black plastic housing behind the pump, just need to know if I can take the pump off without draining the system, dose the pump have a shut off valve? or do I have to drain the system, If so how do go about it, anybody with any help would be grateful.

It will be the low water pressure switch.

Easy to prove - link it out.

You will see it up on the right hand side of the main heat exchanger, wired in series with the overheat stat (it's the bigger one of the two). Take off the short bit of wire that links the two and keep it safe.. Next take the remaining spade connector OFF the low water pressure switch, and fix it to now-vacant terminal on the overheat stat. Now you've linked out the pressure switch totally.

Try n fire the boiler and it will work - promise.

You must NOT leave this switch disconnected, it is there for a safety reason, but sometimes they can be cleaned out.
