My Dyson DC01 is not Sucking?

When I push my dyson DC01 over the carpet it is not sucking at all, however when i remove the tube to do stairs etc it works fine.
The brush roller is operational, all filters have been changed but it picks up nothing. I dont think it is blocked either.
Any ideas please.

My DC07 was doing the same thing. No clogs but wouldn't suck from the floor, only the hose. I read an entry from someone who wrote that if the belt/brush mechanism is off even a milimeter, it won't suck. True. I had taken the brush out to remove hair and debris and put it back in wrong. It's a pain but you have to get it in just right and voila! It will go back to picking up!

Same problem with Dyson DC 01 Absolute +
Took it all apart, cleaned it all out. Now the tube doesnt work.
Going to take it all apart and thoroughly clean it out, just need to find a metal coat hanger to poke down the chambers because Im sure there is a blockage

I have the same problem on a DC07 - it works when upright but not whilst in the down position. I think there must be a 'leak' in the air path from the dust container to the main pickup part. I've cleaned the cyclone part and have washed the filters as suggested by others.

My suggestion for you Susan is to check each part of the air path for loss of suction. Its probably a rubber seal not sealing properly.

Good Luck
