I have a Magnavox MWC24T5 TV/VCR/DVD Combo that will only turn on for a short time. It gives you time to switch from TV to DVD. After that occurs the unit automatically back to TV mode then shuts the whole set off.

Can you advise what would be causing this problem?

If the vcr tries to load,then it is probably the tape sensors.If the screen goes bright before it shuts off ,then it is probably the Flyback Transformer.This problem can also be caused by bad capacitors.
