i can't drill deep on beem to fix my curtain?

I am trying to fix my curtain on window but i can't drill deep on top of window to fix brackets as it seems their is metal inside so drill does'nt go deep enough.is their any way to fix it?

You will probably need to fit a wooden batten along the length first with frequently spaced fixings. Make sure the batten is slightly wider than the bracket. This will give you something firm to fix the brackets to and should be strong enough.

If it is a metal lintel all you need to do is drill a small hole with a 9/64" steel drill and self tap a No8 screw

Metal box section lintels are often used over windows and make curtain rail fitting difficult. Use "no nails" type of adhesive (mastic gun cartridge) to glue up a wooden batten across the window opening with an overlap each side - same length as the curtain rail you want to fit.

Next day when glue is set - emulsion paint a couple of coats and fit rail using woodscrews.

You may have to get creative to prevent batten sagging while the glue sets.
