Hi john, the file NTLDR is a system file. now if you system can't find it on boot up, it will either be because the bios cannot find the boot drive ( i.e. the hdd with windows xp on it) or the boot drive is in some way corrupted. the former could be for a number of reasons: the hdd is no longer shown on cmos as being the first boot device( go into cmos to check it is shown on cmos and it is the primary boot device) or the power supply to the hdd is not working ( try pulling the plug and trying one of the other ones) or the ribbon cable is not working, these are bi-directional meaning that data travels in both directions but if a breakdown in continuaty takes place the data does not complete the passageway of data ( try another data ribbon cable ) let me know if you need more help ? compdoctor2005@btinternet.com
