fridge has power but not cold?

There is power to the fridge the light is on when you open the door but there is no noise and the fridge is not cold and I think the freezer is starting to defrost. What could be the problem.I assume the cable screwed to the back wall of the fridge is the thermostat, but if there is no noise could I have a compressor motor and thermostat problem.

Thermostat control will start the motor when cabinet is warm. If you have power but motor is not starting then you have a faulty thermostat. Replace it. Not a major job.
