how to remove a bad board in laminate in center of floor?

how do you remove a bad board in center of room without taking up all the floor

No other way than take up half of floor, replace bad board and refit. Sorry!

I don't think you can - they all lock together and "float" as a single entity. If you try you will very probably wreck a couple of boards taking the bad one out and a few more putting the new one back in. Best to leave it as it is or dismantle piece by piece from the edge then reassemble.
