How difficult is it to fit a rubber door seal to a Miele W360?

How difficult is it to fit a rubber door seal to a Miele W360.
Pat Rodgers, October 2008
I have just changed the door seal on w4144, and I think it took about 2 hours. I have never changed a door seal before, and never taken a washing mahine to bits before, but it is working OK now.
You will need patience, some screw driver bits to undo 'spax' screws, and the new door seal.
As you take it to bits you will have different sized screws- please make sure you note where each goes!

# With the power on open the door, then switch off and take plug out of the mains socket.
# Pull out and remove the detergent tray.
# pull out and remove the 4" circle at the bottom left on the front of the machine. With this removed you will see an orange toggle dangling down through a slot - push the toggle up and out of the slot.
# Looking at the door seal, inside the first crease of the rubber you will find a retaining wire that is kept tight with a spring. Get an average sized flat screw driver under the spring and pull it up, out and remove.
# Looking at the top cover of the machine- just over the edge on either side you will find a small plate about 13mm long. Prise off the plates and remove the spax screws that are underneath.
You should then lift the top cover up and back, and remove.
# Put your finger under the facia of the control panel and lift it off backwards, and remove.
# Remove the single spax screw at the front right of the control panel.
# The control panel will now lift up and out, and then leave it on top of the machine still attached to its wires. Mine took a lot of persuading out, but there is nothing stopping it except the locating lugs.
# Once you have removed the control panel, remove the spax screws on either side at the front retaining the front of the machine.
# Be ready to support the door and front and then undo the large spax screw in the centre of the front panel just under the grey door seal. You can now lift off the machine front includng the door.
# On the left hand side of the door seal in the last fold of the rubber you will find a threaded screw which tightens the retaining wire for the door seal. Slacken the screw, release the wire and remove.
# Check how the door seal fits, and then remove it.
# Reverse the process to put it all back together
# None of this is very difficult - and it would have been easy if I had had these instructions, so- - -
GOOD LUCK
