HOw to fix simple battery alarm clock (not quartz)?

Hi i have a simple battery bell alarm clock.t isnt a quartz clock (as in purely mechanical) my problem is that the second hand has stopped moving, and hence it no longer keeps time. The alarm mechanism works fine. I opened it up completely and cant figure out the movement mechanism. All i see is a coil, with a metal bracket going through it. there is a gear with a wheel at the bottom that sits in between the two bars at the end of this metal bracket. This gear drives other gears that go on for the clock. If i could just figure out the movement mechanism i should be able to fix it.

try and swivel the gears while looking at the hands, if that works its the gears arnt working so you would have to buy some more.If that doesnt work try tighting the screws that go through the gears. If not put new springs in where you put the batterys and then put new batterys in. Hope this helps ,if it doesnt just throw you clock at a tree while go fast in a car.
