Dyson DC04 wont stand up?

My Dyson DC04 is stuck so that it wont stand up . The flexible bit at the end refuses to go to 90 degrees to the main body.
If I force it I think it will break

Stand behind the vacuum and remove the part on the bottom right of the vacuum that has two different colored pushable parts. Then push the black part that is revealed. Pull the gray portion that is getting in the way when you are trying to stand the handle upright toward the front of the vacuum while pushing the black part at the same time. The gray part should snap forward into position and now allow the handle to stand fully upright. Voila!
