why does my zanussi FL1030 washing machine over fill with water?

why does my zanussi FL1030 washing machine over fill with water? it doesnt mater what cycle i set the machine too it just keeps on filling and wont start the programe :(

Thanks so much ck and Ian A u were both spot on, presure valve, pipes and malifold all blocked up.
You to have saved me a good wege of cash and its greatly appreciated.

yes thats the bit.you will see a clear tube bit and it will be blocked with scummy slimy stuff.this will have 1 or 2 black tubes coming off it upto the pressure switches as mentioned by Ian

Sounds like the pressure switch is faulty. It should cut the water fill off when it reaches a certain level, but its not doing it. I am no expert, but have read on here somewhere that some pressure switches can be fixed by finding where it is situated, and blowing through the tube, as it works on air pressure.

thanks ck, is that the plastic drain filter located at the bottom of the machine? behind that?

at the back of the filter is an air chamber and these get blocked up so causing the fault you describe.you need to remove the filter housing and clean it out or replace it.part is called a manifoldif you want to find out the cost of a new one.
