Blomberg WA295 1501AAA only the water pump seems to be working?

My wife seems to have heavily overloaded the machine which will now only pump water out of drum. I have checked that the pump is not blocked. The inlet solenoids are not being activated to allow filling. The programme indicator responds to the selection made but I fear that the main circuit board may have blown as there appears to be burn marks indicating short circuits in a couple of places. Is it likely to be this or could it be something else?
Can I isolate this possible cause or could there be multiple problems?
Is it likely that heavily overloading could cause this sort of problem?
How do I ensure that other components aren't damaged?
I think that the motor is an induction motor, does this have brushes?
Any help you can give would be useful.
To complicate matters I now live in France (as does the washing machine!).
